Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has highlighted the enhanced global standing of Türkiye following its successful hosting of the NATO Summit on July 7-8. Emphasizing the event as historic, Erdoğan noted the presence of prominent world leaders, including US President Donald Trump, as a testament to Türkiye’s growing influence in international diplomacy.
At the summit, Erdoğan pointed out that NATO leaders recognized the need to eliminate barriers to defense industry collaboration, a move that could further elevate Türkiye’s role on the global stage. He also announced the establishment of a Counter-Unmanned Systems Centre of Excellence in the city of Konya, underscoring Türkiye’s strategic importance to the alliance.
The summit’s Defence Industry Forum drew nearly 1,000 participants, a turnout Erdoğan hopes will not only promote tourism but also bolster Türkiye’s international profile. He expressed optimism that such gatherings contribute to strengthening the country’s reputation worldwide.
Looking to deepen ties with the United States, Erdoğan reiterated his aim to increase bilateral trade to $100 billion. He reaffirmed Türkiye’s dedication to maintaining regional peace and stability, positioning his nation as a key player in fostering international cooperation.
In a gesture of solidarity, Erdoğan extended his condolences to Qatar following the death of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, further demonstrating Türkiye’s commitment to its relationships within the region.
