Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has urged for a revitalized partnership between Türkiye and the United States, emphasizing the need for enhanced dialogue and collaboration amid global conflicts and crises. Speaking at the “100 Years of Friendship Gala” in New York, Erdoğan highlighted the positive outcomes of cooperation between the two NATO allies, particularly in the Middle East, and expressed Türkiye’s commitment to strengthening ties with Washington.
Erdoğan outlined potential areas for expanded cooperation, including nuclear energy, liquefied natural gas, civil aviation, high technology, and the defense industry. He also advocated for the removal of barriers hindering joint defense production, pointing to Türkiye’s burgeoning defense sector, which has seen annual exports rise from approximately $248 million two decades ago to over $10 billion. Erdoğan is optimistic that Türkiye will soon rank among the top ten defense exporters globally.
The Turkish president also invited US investors to consider opportunities in Türkiye, highlighting the nation’s attractive foreign investment climate and a new competitive incentive framework designed to boost investment. This initiative is part of Ankara’s broader strategy to attract foreign capital and stimulate economic growth.
US Senator Chris Coons, present at the event, underscored the enduring partnership between the two countries, noting the critical role of business ties and entrepreneurship in bolstering bilateral relations. The gala convened senior Turkish and US officials and business leaders to celebrate the longstanding diplomatic and economic connections between the two nations.
