A recent study by Turkish AI company Citelens has highlighted a notable discrepancy in the sources used by Google’s AI Overviews when answering business queries in Turkish versus English. By examining 444 business-related inquiries posed in both languages, the research discovered a mere 22% overlap in the domains cited by Google’s AI in its responses, suggesting that visibility in one language doesn’t guarantee the same in another.
The analysis also indicated that AI Overviews were generated for 96% of English questions compared to 94% for Turkish, a small difference in response availability. However, the chosen sources varied considerably depending on the language and the market context. This variance suggests that businesses aiming to reach audiences in Türkiye should not rely solely on their English-language content to be visible in Turkish AI-driven results.
