In Istanbul, foreign ministers from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Georgia are convening for the 10th trilateral ministerial meeting, focusing on enhancing regional cooperation and tackling key geopolitical and economic challenges. This meeting aims to address issues such as transportation, connectivity, energy security, trade, and regional stability. The discussions are particularly timely given the current global geopolitical uncertainties and the need for alternative supply chains.

A significant point of discussion is the Middle Corridor, a strategic trade route that links Asia and Europe through Central Asia, the Caspian Sea, the South Caucasus, and Türkiye. This corridor’s importance has surged as nations look for more secure and diverse transport routes. The ministers will likely emphasize the role of infrastructure projects like the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which serves as a vital link between Europe and Asia and has bolstered economic integration among the three countries.

Energy cooperation is another critical topic on the agenda. Leaders from the three nations are expected to highlight the significance of existing oil and gas infrastructure while exploring ways to enhance regional energy security. These discussions are crucial as they contribute to the broader goal of maintaining peace and stability in the South Caucasus, a region experiencing heightened tensions and ongoing conflicts in neighboring areas.

The trilateral format, established in 2012, has evolved into a pivotal platform for fostering cooperation and advancing strategic projects that bridge Europe and Asia through the South Caucasus. As the ministers gather at this critical juncture, they are expected to underscore the importance of diplomatic efforts in resolving regional disputes and maintaining a cooperative economic environment in the region.
