Türkiye, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan have jointly called for an end to Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories, urging a halt to violence, illegal settlement expansion, and the forced displacement of Palestinians. The foreign ministers of these countries met in Istanbul, where they issued a statement supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The ministers condemned Israeli settlement activities in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem and criticized attacks by settlers on Palestinian communities. They emphasized the need for unrestricted humanitarian aid to Gaza and called for urgent reconstruction efforts in the region.
Addressing broader regional issues, the statement underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomacy, particularly concerning tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. The four countries stressed protecting civilians and infrastructure and backed efforts for a negotiated settlement to prevent further escalation.
Additionally, the ministers highlighted the significance of maintaining freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, warning that disruptions could impact global supplies of energy, fertilizers, and food. They called for restoring safe and unrestricted maritime passage.
In regard to Yemen, the countries condemned Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and commercial shipping in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait. They urged an end to military operations and called on the Houthis to return to the political process.
Türkiye expressed its commitment to supporting diplomatic initiatives and regional coordination to address security challenges and promote peace. The four nations agreed to continue consultations on regional conflicts, humanitarian concerns, and long-term stability.
