Türkiye’s defense and aerospace sector has achieved a significant milestone, with exports surpassing $11 billion over the past 12 months for the first time. This growth underscores the country’s expanding role in the global defense market. In June alone, exports in this sector reached $802.8 million, marking a 29.6% increase compared to the same month the previous year. The first half of the year saw exports rise by 29.5% year-on-year, amounting to $4.67 billion.
The Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) attributes this success to a rising global demand for Turkish defense products and the ongoing development of the nation’s defense manufacturing capabilities. According to SSB President Haluk Görgün, the effectiveness of Turkish defense systems in real-world scenarios has been a key factor in establishing enduring international partnerships, further boosting the country’s export figures.
Over the last two decades, Türkiye has significantly bolstered its domestic defense industry, reducing its dependency on foreign military imports while establishing itself as a major player on the global stage. The country now exports over 230 different defense products to 185 countries, reflecting its strategic efforts to expand its international footprint.
With these advancements, Türkiye aims to solidify its position among the top 10 defense exporters worldwide. The country’s commitment to enhancing its defense capabilities and promoting its products on a global scale continues to drive its ambitious export goals, positioning it as a formidable competitor in the international defense industry.
