In a recent phone conversation, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed the ongoing efforts to normalize relations between Türkiye and Armenia, as well as recent developments in the region. The dialogue between the two leaders is part of a broader initiative to improve diplomatic ties after years of tension.

During the call, Pashinyan conveyed Eid al-Adha greetings to Erdoğan, and both leaders assessed the progress made in enhancing bilateral relations and expanding cooperation. Erdoğan highlighted the continuation of the normalization process through practical measures aimed at facilitating direct trade and boosting economic engagement. He reiterated Türkiye’s dedication to fostering peace, stability, and security in the region.

This conversation marks the latest high-level engagement between Ankara and Yerevan as they move towards rapprochement. Initiated in late 2021, the current normalization process began with the appointment of special envoys to spearhead negotiations. Since then, both Türkiye and Armenia have made strides in improving ties, notably resuming commercial flights in 2022.

The ongoing diplomatic efforts are seen as part of a broader strategy to enhance stability and economic connectivity in the South Caucasus. While obstacles remain, both governments have consistently underscored their commitment to dialogue and confidence-building measures, aiming for a more constructive bilateral relationship.
