Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan are set to bolster their bilateral relations with a renewed focus on enhancing trade, investment, transportation, and regional connectivity. This commitment emerged from the seventh meeting of the Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group in Ankara, which brought together foreign ministers from both nations. The leaders underscored their dedication to finding diplomatic solutions to international conflicts, signaling a united front in global diplomacy.
During the discussions, officials assessed the progress made in strengthening ties and agreed on intensifying collaboration in key areas such as education, cultural exchanges, and economic development. Plans for future reciprocal visits by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan were also on the agenda, highlighting the importance of continued high-level engagement.
Economic cooperation remains a top priority for the two countries, with pledges to support new investment projects and create favorable business conditions. Both governments are committed to expanding travel, employment, and educational opportunities, fostering stronger people-to-people connections. The talks also placed a strong emphasis on regional connectivity, with Kyrgyzstan advocating for the Middle Corridor as a strategic transport route that could enhance access to European and Middle Eastern markets via Türkiye. The proposed linkage of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway to this corridor reflects this strategic vision.
On the international stage, Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan discussed security challenges, reiterating their shared commitment to resolving disputes through dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law. Kyrgyzstan expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s role in regional mediation efforts and thanked Ankara for backing its successful bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for 2027-2028. This support underscores the collaborative spirit between the two countries.
Looking ahead, Kyrgyzstan plans to advocate for dialogue among nations while championing the interests of landlocked developing countries, mountainous nations, and small island states.
