President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared that Türkiye’s Armed Forces have become stronger, more deterrent, and technologically advanced since the failed coup attempt of July 15, 2016. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the National Defense University in Ankara, Erdoğan praised the transformation of the military and reaffirmed his commitment to continued investment in defense capabilities.
Following the coup attempt, thousands linked to the FETÖ network were expelled, military bases were relocated, and the National Defense University was established to unify and reform military training. Erdoğan said these steps repaired the damage inflicted on the system and turned challenges into an opportunity for building a modern, well-equipped army.
The president highlighted recent advancements, including new defense technologies such as ASELSAN’s Steel Dome system, and promised further deliveries that would enhance the country’s naval, air, and land capabilities. He stressed that Türkiye’s motto, “Strong Türkiye, Strong Army,” is being realized step by step through ongoing reforms and modernization.
Addressing graduates, Erdoğan urged them to uphold discipline, honor, and justice, reminding them that their military service represents the legacy of martyrs and veterans. He also underscored that Türkiye’s military tradition has always respected humanitarian values, contrasting this with ongoing violence in global conflicts.
