ESET and EVC Group have embarked on a strategic collaboration to enhance Europe’s cybersecurity and energy resilience. This partnership focuses on developing CyberSec BESS, a new breed of cyber-secure battery energy storage systems tailored for the European market. As battery storage systems become increasingly vital in supporting power grids and critical energy infrastructure, cybersecurity has become a crucial aspect alongside performance and reliability. The formal agreement was established through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), setting the stage for the development, certification, and commercialization of CyberSec BESS.
The initiative was unveiled on June 25, 2026, at Intersolar Europe in Munich, a key event for renewable energy, energy storage, and energy technologies. CyberSec BESS aims to align with current and future European Union cybersecurity regulations, ensuring the long-term resilience of vital energy systems. The project merges European expertise in cybersecurity, system integration, and certification with global battery manufacturing capabilities. Martin Talian, Chief Corporate Solutions Officer at ESET, emphasized the importance of integrating cybersecurity into battery storage systems from the outset, instead of as an afterthought. He stated that this initiative allows ESET to leverage its experience in safeguarding critical infrastructure while helping to prepare the energy sector for present and future cyber threats.
Oliver Garaj, Managing Director of EVC Group, highlighted the need for a comprehensive systems approach to build resilient energy infrastructure, rather than merely combining individual technologies. He noted that this partnership integrates engineering expertise, advanced energy technologies, and stringent cybersecurity standards to deliver battery storage systems prioritizing security, transparency, operational reliability, and strong overall performance. These features are expected to gain significance as Europe continues to modernize its energy sector.
According to Frost Radar™: Endpoint Security, 2025 by Frost & Sullivan, ESET stands as the largest global cybersecurity provider headquartered in Europe. The company offers AI-powered cybersecurity solutions for businesses, individuals, and critical infrastructure, covering endpoint, cloud, and mobile environments. Their offerings are backed by advanced threat intelligence, encryption, multifactor authentication, and continuous security monitoring. Through its partnership with EVC Group, ESET aims to reinforce Europe’s energy resilience and support the secure rollout of next-generation battery storage technologies.
